This morning Nick Smith woke to see the agenda for the house to "speak" included even more damaging evidence on the Clinical Pathway (Legislation surrounding the treatment of those sexually abused seeking counselling). I can just see those rat eyes of his churning in his head and the wish for all this "nasty business" to just goes away.
But this is why you're paid the big bucks Nick! New Zealand citizens entrusted you with the ACC portfolio and we EXPECT you to DO your JOB!
Despite nationwide opposition from all corners of the medical profession and protests from treatment providers for sexually abused clients and those very own people themselves - you forged ahead with the Clinical Pathways and put hundreds, if not thousands, of vulnerable people at risk. To date, your actions have been solely responsible for the death of two women and the very public announcement of another potential suicide victim last weekend.
So what will you do today I wonder?
The House is expected to meet at 2pm. ACC is on the agenda for 3pm. Link below for streaming of these discussions.

Yay! Labour has been putting lots of questions in the House about this issue lately. I will be posting the transcript of this question and the answer on my blog as soon as it is available (http://theswampreport.blogspot.com/).
ReplyDeleteI stupidly expected something to change this afternoon in Parliament especially in light of the growing opposition to this new Clinical Pathways but no...
ReplyDeleteNick Smith still insists the College of GP's supported the new Guidelines and if anyone read their press release in November 2009 you'd think the same thing:
http://www.ncwnz.org.nz/assets/Action/Hon-Nick-Smith.pdf
Now they reckon they've been misquoted and don't support the guidelines...
How coincidental is it that the person behind the implemenation of these Guidelinesis (employed by ACC) is ALSO a College Board member?
Of course they're going to "go along" with it even if the College members strongly oppose it?
WHERE IS THE COLLEGE'S RETRACTION?
WHERE IS THE COLLEGES APOLOGY TO ITS MEMBERS?
I know it was awful to think he can lie like that. He is now saying the College of Psychiatrists released statements to ACC (rather than him) in support of the current pathway. Well, I guess we will find out when we ask the College? But I seriously doubt it. They said last time they never released ANY statement.
ReplyDeleteThis is the you tube footage of today's session re: the above.
